Safaricom unveils Twaweza Live
Safaricom has announced the launch of the ‘Safaricom Twaweza Live’ experience to positively impact customers and transform lives in the communities around the country.
The 7-month long campaign will see the company engage with communities across Kenya through free medical camps, campus take overs, great device offers, talent search activities, youth mentorship programmes and music concerts.
“As a Kenyan brand, Safaricom is committed to growing local talent and positively impacting the lives of Kenyans. The Safaricom Twaweza Live activities have been designed to provide close interactions between various user groups with aim of making a positive change to their wellbeing,” said Sylvia Mulinge, Director- Consumer Business, Safaricom.
The campaign will take place between May and November and will also focus on growing and nurturing local music talent by giving artistes a chance to perform in live concerts across the country. It will be characterized by six concerts that will kick off in Eldoret then move on to Meru, Machakos, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kisii and Nairobi.
The concerts will be complemented by road shows that will traverse various towns, artistes’ boot camps and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) activities that will all happen before the main concert.
The engaged artistes, to be announced ahead of each concert, will also get a chance to increase their revenue through mobile downloads of their music on the SONGA and SKIZA platforms.
SONGA by Safaricom is an all-inclusive music streaming service offering a wide variety of music to customers as well as an additional platform for artistes to sell their music. It is accessible via an App on Android mobile devices and offers online and offline play, track and full album downloads, playlist creation and an ability to share links with other subscribers.
Safaricom runs the biggest ring back tunes service popularly known as Skiza for its 29 million customers. Last year Skiza service paid out over Kes 1.4 billion to artistes.
