Rwanda ropes in mobile for disaster management

By BiztechAfrica - May 14, 2012, 3:16 p.m.The Rwandan Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees Affairs (MIDIMAR) is equipping local leaders with cellphones in order to improve disaster management.
The Director of Disaster Management, Justin Kayira, said the devices would allow for early warning and information collection, allowing the government to take appropriate measures and protect the lives of citizens.
The project is supported by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the UN Agency for Refugees (UNCHR).
