Rwanda increases ICT focus

The Rwandan government says it will focus on the use of ICTs, service delivery, roadworks and the National Dialogue preparation for the next four months.

Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi outlined the government’s priorities for the next four months during a Government Accountability Day, where he also presented key achievements of the last quarter.

The Prime Minister also answered questions from media and interacted with citizens through social media. The Prime Minister said: “Our focus during the last four months was on increasing access to power, energy generation, infrastructure development, agriculture modernisation, enhancing the health sector, education, mining as well as entrepreneurship. We ensured a continued improvement of other sectors.”

“Rwanda enjoyed a good harvest, improved our food reserve systems and tackled malnutrition. We concluded the 4th General Census of Population and Housing, with a participation of more than 99%. Preliminary results are expected in December."

The Prime Minister also highlighted improvement of customer care and Services, and cited other current projects, including studies for prospect mining sites and rural electrification, which is expected to reach 10% of the population by the end of year. Plans to establish a multicampus University of Rwanda are almost complete, helping to advance higher learning in Rwanda.
