By BiztechAfrica - Aug. 9, 2012, 9:09 a.m.The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a statement rejecting rumours that calls from a certain number involve rituals.
NCC said its attention had been drawn to a message circulating on the social media and on BlackBerry services.
It said: “In essence, the message advises phone users to refrain from picking calls from this number: 0800226655. This is because they will be used for rituals. The NCC categorically refutes this message and advises phone users to go about their normal business as there is NO grain of truth in this.”
“Futhermore, it is our belief that social media should be for the promotion of peace and unity in our nation, and not for mischief,” NCC said.
