New committee to control lottery shows
Nigeria’s Communications Commission (NCC) and National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) have formed a joint committee to enforce rules on lottery shows.
The committee will govern promotions and lottery shows run by telecoms services providers.
NCC Executive Vice-Chairman, Eugene Juwah noted that promotions and lotteries had become prominent tools used by service providers. He said the committee would control these “in a bid to ensure sanity in the industry.”
Last week, NCC clarified that only the NLRC has the powers to regulate lotteries run by the service providers as well as sanction any operator who defaults on any issues related to lotteries in the country.
