NCC seals unauthorised phone dealerships

By BiztechAfrica - Feb. 21, 2012, 7:39 a.m.The Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) Enforcement Unit has cracked down on distributors and dealers who sold mobile phones not approved for use in Nigeria.
The NCC noted that all phones sold in Nigeria had to be quality tested and approved for use on the network.This was in line with Quality of Service guidelines and safety standards.
The NCC’s Head of Enforcement, Efosa Idehen, said the companies concerned had been warned that they needed to comply.
In the crackdown, offices and warehouses were closed and equipment was seized. Action against more distributors is expected soon.
