Namibia mobile penetration at 110%

By BiztechAfrica - Oct. 10, 2012, 4:11 p.m.Namibia now has over 2.35 million mobile subscribers and 550,000 internet users, says Namibia's Minister of ICT.
Speaking at the 6th annual Telecom Namibia ICT Summit in Windhoek, Minister Joel Kapaanda said mobile penetration in Namibia has now passed 110%, with about 2.35 million active GSM and CDMA customers.
More than 80 000 Namibian customers access the internet through personal computers or tablets and over 470 000 via mobile phones, giving the country close to 550 000 internet users.
The Telecom Namibia ICT Summit is underway at the Safari Hotel & Conference Centre in Windhoek, coinciding with the 20th Anniversary of Telecom Namibia.
