MTN supports Rwandan development fund

MTN Rwanda has donated Rwf 20million towards Rwanda’s new Agaciro Development Fund, which aims to support development.

The Agaciro Development Fund was officially launched this week, with a boost from individuals, private companies and organizations, who donated a total of Rwf1.2 billion in cash and pledges.

The Fund is described as a solidarity fund initiated by Rwandans themselves to supplement financing received by donors.

Rwanda’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, John Rwangombwa, noted that the establishment of the fund was first mooted in last year's Umushyikirano meeting where it was agreed that a mutual fund be put in place specifically to finance rural development as a way of fast tracking Vision 2020.
