MTN Cameroon Board lauds 3G+, 4G LTE rollouts

The Board of Directors of MTN Cameroon S.A met for their first ordinary board meeting of the year, on 10 February 2016 in Douala. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Colin E. MUKETE, Board Chairman, and reported by Mrs Philisiwe G. SIBIYA, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon.

The Board of MTN Cameroon lauded MTN Cameroon’s successful launch of 3G+ and 4G LTE high-speed technologies in 2015. By providing these technologies to the population, MTN has positioned itself as a national catalyst to ignite Cameroon’s digital economy for the benefit of all.

The Board also noted MTN Cameroon’s exceptional contribution to the State revenues, and its role in the socio-economic development of Cameroon. Between 2010 and 2014, MTN paid 467.65 billion FCFA to the Government of Cameroon and the Regulatory Board as taxes, duties, and royalties, in strict compliance with the regulations in force.

MTN Cameroon also paid 75 billion to the State for the renewal of its operating licence in 2015.

MTN Cameroon’s contribution to the State Revenues represents an average of approximately 40% of its annual turnover. Concurrently, 53.1% of MTN Cameroon’s annual turnover is reinvested in the company and local economy in the form of infrastructures reinforcement, payment of employees’ salaries, invoices of suppliers, commissions of distribution partners, not to mention the activities of the MTN Foundation which continues to receive national acclaim. MTN Cameroon was recently honored by the Customs of Cameroon, for its exceptional and exemplary contribution to State Revenues.

The Board expressed their gratitude to the clients and partners of MTN for their unshakable confidence in the organisation. This is in order to remain a leader and an exemplary company, and continue earning the confidence of the country and population.
