MTN Beeg fraud under investigation
A Zambian IT specialist is facing fraud charges for allegedly manipulating an MTN promotion so his girlfriend could win it.
The MTN ‘Let’s Go Beeg’ promotion offered a K1 billion first prize, which was handed over promotion winner Namuchana Sinuma early this year.
However, in light of claims, an MTN IT specialist and two other suspects are facing questions over the prize. The police have confirmed that the IT specialist was taken to Livingstone to answer charges against him. Sinuma is reported to have confessed to winning the money fraudulently.
Software suspected to have been used to commit the fraud has also been seized.
