Movitel due for Mozambique launch

The telco, controlled by Viettel in partnership with Mozambican investors, will be the country’s third mobile operator.
It has stated that it will spend around USD120 million on infrastructure development in Mozambique during its first year, and around USD645 million over four years.

Military-run Viettel ended last year as one of the few companies in Vietnam to realise a pre-tax profit of nearly US$1 billion. It achieved around USD5.6 billion in turnover last year. The group’s overseas investment in Laos, Cambodia, Mozambique, Haiti and Peru generated revenue of USD476 million during this period.
