Morocco focuses on broadband plan

Morocco is embarking on concerted efforts to develop its national broadband capabilities.
The country is set to embark on a ten-year infrastructure development plan aimed at taking ultra-fast broadband access across the country.
Morocco’s National Telecommunications Regulation Agency (ANRT) says that the aim is to give the country’s entire population access to fixed or mobile broadband by 2022. According to ANRT head Azdine El Mountassir Billah, the project will include the rolling out of 4G mobile technologies from 2014 onwards and the allocation of increased spectrum to telecoms operators for outdoor Wi-Fi networks.
ANRT also plans to launch pilot projects taking fibre optic cabling to housing estates.
