More Gilat Satcom POPs optimised for IPv6
Gilat Satcom has announced that its POPs in Malawi, Zambia and the UK have been optimised to receive and transmit traffic from IPv6 addresses. This means that operators in Africa who are now assigning IPv6 addresses to new and existing customers have an established route for traffic within Africa as well as to and from overseas.
Operators in both Malawi and Zambia are already using Gilat Satcom’s IPv6-enabled POPs in preference to the routes of other wholesale fiber, satellite and wireless carriers.
Gilat Satcom provides broadband over both satellite and fiber to more than 50 countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Its customers include telcos, ISPs, governments, enterprise customers and international organizations.
During 2015 Gillat Satcom will be upgrading all of its fibre and satellite networks throughout Africa to cater for increasing demand from operators, resellers and businesses of all sizes.
Ofer Doron, VP Engineering of Gilat Satcom, said “Operators in Africa are now turning their attention to how they manage the transition to IPv6. Our broadband packages now use our proven IPv6-enabled routes so that operators have one less thing to worry about."
