Moneynet Enterprises launches banking site

By Edith Mwale, Lusaka, Zambia

Zambia’s Moneynet Enterprises has set up a website where latest information on all commercial banks and insurance companies operating in Zambia will be posted and easily accessed.

The firm said Banknet had been created after it was noticed that people could not easily find latest information about new loans, products and services in banks and insurance firms.

The site, Banknet.co.zm, allows people to access up-to-date public information about all banks, financial service companies, insurance companies, and stock brokers, including the loans, job offers, tenders, news, and promotions being offered by these institutions.

"Customer complaints will also be sent directly through forms available on the site to any bank on the website," said Chanda Chisala, Moneynet Enterprises managing director.

Chisala said a simple version of Banknet will also be accessible through smart phones, to make access to relevant information even faster.
Although the banks have their own individual sites, Chisala said, it is still difficult for people to access information they need.
He said it is also difficult to remember all the website addresses of the different financial institutions, hence the setting up of just one website delivering all the information.

Moneynet Enterprises has been developing innovative web initiatives in Zambia for over 12 years, and has created many public interest sites, including Zambia Online, Dear Zambia, Chipolopolo Guest book and Dear Mr President.
