M-Pesa gets upgrade
VALUE ADDED SERVICES
By BiztechAfrica - Feb. 12, 2012, 8:39 a.m.Safaricom’s M-Pesa service was closed overnight on saturday to allow for a features upgrade.
M-Pesa, with over 14 million subscribers, frequently adds features and functionality.
Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore did not elaborate on the latest upgrade, but said the upgrade was necessary in order to grow the service menu and improve customer experience. He gave the assurance that all funds and records in M-Pesa would remain secure.
Collymore has stated that while the service is hugely popular and growing, more needs to be done to improve the network. Late last year, two days of disruptions on the network prompted Safaricom to say the system could need to be rearchitected to make it more scaleable.
