By BiztechAfrica - April 10, 2012, 9 a.m.Kenya’s Kenyatta National Hospital expects to save millions and become more efficient through a digitisation initiative.
The hospital is in the process of digitising 40 million patient records to allow for more efficient management and real time knowledge management and workflow management, says its Chief Executive, Richard Lesivampe.
He said at the Connected Kenya Summit that the hospital spends at least Sh150 million a year on stationery – 12% of its administration costs.
The hospital is digitising the first four million records with the help of the Rockerfeller Foundation.
Lesiyampe says the hospital is also training staff and educating patients on the use of ICTs in healthcare records.
