Kenyans angered by violence claim
BUSINESS
By BiztechAfrica - March 12, 2012, 8:07 a.m.Kenyans came to Twitter in their numbers this weekend, to lash out at CNN for an article claiming violence had erupted in Nairobi.
The trending Twitter stream with the hashtag #SomeoneTellCNN grew lengthier by the minute as Kenyans complained about a CNN banner reading “Violence in Kenya”.
The banner had referred to an article about a grenade attack that killed six people at a bus station on Saturday.
Kenyans argued that the grenade attack was an act of terrorism, while they felt the CNN report implied that Nairobi was a city in chaos. David McKenzie, the journalist responsible for the report, has since apologized on Twitter, but the angry tweets show no signs of abating.
