ICT promises to enhance distance learning in Mozambique
Mozambique’s Deputy Minister of Education (MINED), Leda Hugo, says ICTs present opportunities for the country to expand its distance learning programmes, to reach more students.
Speaking in Maputo at a national conference on distance learning, the Deputy Minister said ICTs could help to overcome the challenges in access to education. "Our Education Strategic Plan 2012-2016 continues to favour the expansion of the education system, exploring distance learning and the potential of information and communication technologies to ensure the growth and quality of education services provided," she said.
She noted that the country’s current high school, tertiary and teacher training distance education programmes had benefited tens of thousands of people.
