By BiztechAfrica - July 19, 2012, 1:18 p.m.Google’s Gmail SMS tool is making Gmail access possible even to the most basic handsets.
Google’s Gmail SMS, now available in Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya, allows users to send and receive emails as SMS messages using any mobile phone, regardless of whether or not the phone has an internet connection. Gmail SMS works on even the most basic ones, which only support voice and SMS.
Gmail SMS automatically forwards emails as SMS text messages to a user’s phone. The user can then respond by replying directly to the SMS.
Users can also compose mails and control the emails received by replying with commands such as MORE, PAUSE and RESUME.
