Gloucestershire University connects Malawi Olympic team

When the Malawi National Olympic team chose Gloucestershire University as their base for the period prior to the London 2012 Olympic Games, little did they know that their temporary home would come with a dedicated website, facebook and twitter accounts to follow their progress.
Malawi Olympic Committee Treasurer General Jappie Mhango told Biztechafrica that since the venues within Gloucestershire are part of a consortium that formed the basis for the Gloucestershire entry in the Olympic Training Camp brochure, they decided to go for it.
"And we did not realise we would get more than we bargained for as they have all our details now on the internet, where we can now be accessed through a website space linked to the University of Gloucestershire website. They also have our team on facebook and twitter," said Mhango.

The National Olympic Team of Malawi is in Gloucestershire for their pre-Olympic Games holding camp in the summer of 2012.
The website says the Malawi team is expected to include athletes from the sports of athletics, boxing, cycling, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and weight-lifting.
"The Malawi 2012 project builds on the well established Sport Malawi initiative," it says.

The Malawi Olympic team began their stay in the UK with a visit to the IT Schools for Africa charity, which collects and refurbishes computers for shipping to schools in Malawi.
