Ghana e-services launched

Ghana’s public sector e-services project has been officially launched in Accra.
The e-services portal aims to improve transparency and efficiency in the public service. It has been implemented by the Ministry of Communications and the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), as part of e-Ghana projects being funded by the World Bank at a cost of USD40 million.
Haruna Iddrisu, Ghana’s Minister of Communications, says eleven Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have been connected to the project so far.
They include the Passport Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), the Food and Drugs Board (FDB), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), National Communications Authority (NCA), the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, the Minerals Commission, the National Identification Authority (NIA) and the Birth and Death Registry (BDR).
The Minister said the project would support government’s objective to use ICTs for the development of the country.
