France Telecom looks to new African markets

France Telecom is turning its attention to Benin, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Togo as it seeks to grow its presence in Africa.

Elie Gerard, France Telecom’s Head of Strategy and Development, says while no talks are underway in those regions yet, the areas are a high priority for the company.

France Telecom is already negotiating with telcos in Algeria and Libya with a view to expanding in North Africa, he said.
