Ethiopian users blocked from Tor Project
ETHIOPIA
By BiztechAfrica - June 12, 2012, 3:48 p.m.The Tor Project, a site that allows users to browse anonymously and access banned sites, says Ethio Telecom appears to be blocking users from the Tor Network.
Tor Network says its statistics show a complete drop of Ethiopian users, and suggests Ethio Telecom - the country’s only ISP - is likely using Deep Packet Inspection to prevent users from accessing the Tor site.
The report comes amid growing concern that Ethiopia may be censoring media content. Reporters Without Borders has also accused the biggest state printer, Berhanena Selam, of attempting to impose political censorship on media content.
