Ethiopia to stage 11th Innovation Africa Digital Summit
GOVERNMENT
By BiztechAfrica - Sept. 30, 2012, 8:04 a.m.Ethiopia will stage the Innovation Africa Digital Summit in Addis Ababa in March next year.
Noting that the Ethiopian Government has made the development of ICT a strategic priority, Ethiopia’s State Minister of MCIT, Ato Peter GatKoukt said in a briefing that the government, in collaboration with Extensia Ltd, would host the Summit from 19 – 21 March 2013.
The event will be held under the theme “National Broadband Strategies and Agendas – Acceleration and Alignment".
“The theme for creating Sustainable national/international growth and development of the African Telecom and ICT ecosystem is indeed a powerful concept which will transform the global socio-economic environment. The ecosystems will influence and build up on each other in a continuous and dynamic revolution,” he said.
“Bridging this ICT gap and ensuring the optimal and innovative use of ICT tools will have a decisive bearing on whether or not the implementation of development strategies is a success or a failure. In short, rapid progress for countries such as Ethiopia in this area is not a matter of choice, but of necessity.”
