El-Nawawy appointed to head Telecom Egypt

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Hany Mahmoud, has announced that Mohamed El-Nawawy has been appointed as CEO of Telecom Egypt.
The change, which came into effect this weekend, follows the resignation of Tarek Aboualam. Aboualam was appointed as Telecom Egypt’s CEO and Managing Director in January 2012.
Elnawawy has been the Chief Strategy Officer of Telecom Egypt since April 2009 and its Senior Vice President December 22, 2010.
The Communications Minister told journalists at a briefing this weekend that the telco’s board was currently undergoing a significant change.
