Eaton takes a leading share in Uganda’s towers
Only days after announcing the purchase of 300 towers from Orange Uganda in a leaseback deal last week. Eaton Towers has now announced that it has acquired 400 towers from Warid Telecom Uganda.
Eaton CEO Alan Harper says thos gives Eaton 700 towers in Uganda, enabling it to offer nationwide coverage.
Tower sharing is being seen as an attractive option for African telcos as they struggle to contain operating costs.
Late last year, the company announced it had secured USD150 million in equity funding to help it expand its operations across Africa.
