INDUSTRY
By BiztechAfrica - Oct. 4, 2012, 10:34 a.m.Drive Control Corporation (DCC) has unveiled the Spectre XT Pro from Hewlett-Packard (HP). This Ultrabook is an addition to the HP Folio 13 Notebook and is aligned to target the business market, offering upgraded specs at the same affordable price as the Folio 13 that was aimed at the consumer market.
“The Spectre XT Pro is lighter and thinner than its predecessor,” says Francois van Wijk, HP PSG Business Unit Manager at DCC, “and the revamped design features a third generation Intel Core i5-3317U ‘Ivy Bridge’ processor, delivering the kind of speed and performance that make it the ultimate Ultrabook, without compromising on size or reliability.”
The features incorporated in HP’s Spectre XT Pro include an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000, a widescreen LED-backlit HD 13.3” display, 128 GB mSATA Solid State Drive, a full sized backlit Chiclet keyboard with UV coating, a clickpad with gesture support sensor and a standard commercial one year warranty with an upgrade to a three year warranty with HPs Care Pack. The HP 4-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (45WHr) offers system standby time of up to one week, and has a battery life of up to eight hours, depending on product model, loaded applications, use and power management settings.
Business users will appreciate the HDMI and USB 3.0 port, as well as the 2-in-1 digital media reader slot supporting SD, SDHC, SDXC and MMC memory cards. Intel Rapid Start Technology ensures a quick start up and the powerful processor enables multi-tasking and networking without compromising on power or speed. Wireless connectivity is achieved with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adaptor, making this the ideal Ultrabook for business users on the go.
“Thanks to the built-in HP Beats Audio and four integrated stereo speakers, the HP Spectre XT Pro provides the richest and best sound available on an Ultrabook. This is a case of small size, big sound” says van Wijk. “The Spectre XP Pro also comes with an integrated dual-microphone array and an HP TrueVision HD Webcam, enhancing the Skype experience.”
The thinner, lighter Spectre XT Pro has a 0.57 inch (14.5 mm) front profile and a starting weight of 1.39 kg, whilst the all-metal design gives it a sleek, professional look. Hot docking is easy with one of the optional HP docking stations and security features include a security lock slot and a TPM 1.2 embedded security chip, keeping e-mail and solid state drive information safe and confidential. The Spectre XT Pro comes preinstalled with Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64 or Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64, ideal for the business audience.
