Court hears Ghana telecom case

The Commercial Court in Accra has heard that Parliament acted in contravention of the Constitution when it ratified the sale of Ghana Telecom to Vodafone.

The case relates to the sale of Ghana’s 70% share in Ghana Telecom to Vodafone in 2008.

The Commercial Court is hearing evidence to enable the Supreme Court to determine whether or not the sale of Ghana Telecom to Vodafone was constitutional and whether it should be nullified.

A group of plaintiffs is arguing that the share was grossly undervalued and that the sale was against the public interest.

The hearing will continue on Monday, 9 July.
