Connected Kenya Summit to focus on innovation
Next month’ s Connected Kenya Summit in Diani will focus on innovations for the citizen. The summit will be hosted by the Kenya ICT Board and Safaricom from 18 – 21 April.
The theme for this year’ s conference is, “ Innovating for the Citizen” .
The Kenya ICT Board says in a statement that the Connected Kenya Summit, previously Connected Government, will include a greater representation from the private sector than the previous conference.
The Summit will aim to establish a collaboration platform where sharing of priorities between the government and the IT sector will take place with a view of linking and hastening implementation of government IT projects to world-class standards.
The Kenya ICT Board notes that some of the key ICT projects that it has facilitated with “ remarkable success” so far include digitization of records at Ministry of Lands, Company Registry and the Judiciary.
The Board says: “ These projects have so far cost the Government in conjunction with the World Bank $10 million and it is also to be noted that the number of Kenyans using internet services has grown to 8 million. This is in tow with Kenya’ s Vision 2030 in which Kenya aims to become a top-3 outsourcing location in Africa by 2015.”
