BIHL launches App for Change competition

The Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited Trust (BIHL Trust) which serves as the CSI arm of the BIHL group and its subsidiaries has partnered with Botswana Innovation Hub (BIH) to launch App for Change, a mobile application (App) development competition that “aims to make true difference to Batswana. #AppForChange, Competition championed by the BIHL trust and Botswana Innovation Hub App competition to unearth talent, and drive greater economic empowerment Gaborone –

Speaking during the launch and press briefing today (Monday the 12th), the BIH Director of Communications, Tshepo Tsheko said the BIH role was to build an It ecosystem between innovators and since most of these innovations come from the youth. “We support the innovators to take their innovations to the market, we also partner with academia to see how we can also take their products to the market as well” he told the media present.

#AppForChange opened for entries on the 5th of November 2018, and challenges youth companies and individuals to develop an App which addresses business needs, while at the same time providing youth interest in Investment, Insurance and Legal Services. Said The BIHL Trustee representative, Ngwatshi Enyatseng,

“We are incredibly excited to see the competition intriguing many young Batswana with incredible coding and development skills. This is about economic empowerment, as we play our part in combatting youth and graduate unemployment. At the same time, it serves an educational and inclusive purpose, thus the string impetus behind driving as much awareness and participation through this platform.” The competition is open to Batswana youth Nationwide, and who meet the following criteria: Entrants must be aged between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of entry. Age may be verified prior to awarding a Prize.

Entrants may not be a person residing in any other country except Botswana, entrants who are employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and their immediate families(spouse, parents, children, siblings and each of their spouses regardless where they live) or members of household of BIHL Trust, or their respective parent companies, affiliates, and subsidiaries and any individual connected with the production or distribution of this Competition are not eligible to enter or be awarded a prize.

The competition runs until the 15th of November. Having read terms and conditions of the competition, interested participants can register online by midnight on the 15th of November. Registration is free of charge, and it is recommended that all terms and conditions be read, available on the website and via all BIHL Group social media platforms, inclusive of entry guidelines.
