Barclays Bank of Botswana has upgraded and refreshed the look and feel of its mobile banking app.  According to the Bank, this newly refreshed app is meant to give customers a better banking experience, offer more functionality and gives the bank a competitive edge in the market.

Brighton Banda, the Retail Banking Customer who was the guest of honour at the presentation said “As a business, we have identified Digital Banking as a critical element that’s needed to drive our strategy now and in the future. Our commitment towards this strategic pillar is underpinned by our current heavy investment towards maintaining, upgrading and developing our digital platforms.”

We continue to introduce new functionalities across our channels as well as upgrading the existing to expected levels.”

Accordingly, he said they have noted that most customers spend much time online, on their phones, on the internet and are also on the move. As such, Barclays continuously seek ways in which we can offer convenience to our customers.

“We value our customer’s time and note that digital banking platforms are critical to full this purpose of providing convenience. Having the bank on your palm than going to a branch provides enormous benefits to our customers. As such, we are constantly evaluating our digital platforms against our customer’s expectations and latest trends in the market. “

The bank’s mobile journey started 9 years ago with mobile banking only he said. “9 years later, I am proud that we have different digital assets across mobile, internet and even the ATM. Our ATMs are intelligent and boast several functionalities, some of which we have switched on like the funds transfer and bill payment options and several others we are yet to switch on.

Of recent, we have upgraded our Mobile banking App which is meant to offer our customers a better banking experience.

“The Mobile App was first launched in 2012 and had the same functionalities as our internet banking platforms, which included the ability to make international payments.

In 2017, we decided that our App needed a face lift, be competitive with similar offerings in the market and offer our customers a better user experience,” Banda explained further.

He said in March 2018, they were able to avail the re-fresher App to customers and have so far seen a positive response by the number of the daily app uploads.

“I want to assure you that by the end of April, we will be introducing a new feature being the finger print login thus offering enhanced security for our App.”

The bank’s IT expert, Victor Mmolawa, went on to demonstrate to the invited media personnel how one needs to do in order to use the new app that Barclays had just introduced.
