13-year-old reaches Microsoft Office global finals

By BiztechAfrica - July 10, 2012, 12:11 p.m.A 13-year-old Nigerian student, Hadiza Adeleke, has reached the finals of the Certiport Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office.
The competition tests secondary school students’ skills using Microsoft Office tools. Up to 300,000 students from 50 countries took part.
Students compete on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint tracks for the Office 2007 and 2010 system. The 2012 contest also marks the introduction of the 2010 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) PowerPoint exam for the first time.
In Nigeria, Hadiza Adeleke of the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls topped 22 local students to reach the finals. Local IT training institution New Horizons Computer Systems Limited says it will sponsor her trip to the US, to compete in the finals in Las Vegas from 29 July to 1 August.
